Jagannath Singh College Udahrbond is the only Degree College in the Udharbond L.A. Constituency in Cachar district of Assam. With a vision to fulfil the need for higher education in Udharbond area, Jagannath Singh College was established in April 1998. The college is named after the ex- minister of Assam Late Jagannath Singh. The college is affiliated to Assam University, Silchar. Catering to the higher educational demand of the greater Udharbond area, the college began its journey with 34 students enrolled in B.A. (Pass) Course and 10 faculties in different subjects without its own land and buildings. The classes were started in 1999-2000 in J.R.D. Pubic High School. In 2003, the college shifted to its permanent building with construction of 3538 sq. feet ground floor. It was inaugurated by the then Vice Chancellor of Assam University. Dr, Subhash Chandra Saha.
Assam University Silchar granted permission of TDC Part I in 2000. The remaining two years of TDC course were gradually permitted by the university. The college also received necessary permission and approval in seven subjects, namely English, Bengali, Manipuri, Hindi, Political Science, Economics and History. The first batch students of Jagannath Singh College appeared in TDC final examinations in 2002 and the pass percentage in the first year was 45%.
The College was provincialized by the Government of Assam in 2013. The College is spread across 5 bighas of land. It has seven departments namely Bengali, Economics, English, Hindi, History, Manipuri and Political Science. It offers bachelor degree in Arts. In academic session 2021-2022, the college introduced B.A. in Bengali Hons. , B.A. in Hindi Hons. and B.A. in Manipuri Hons.
